Mark “Messhof” Essen’s side-scrolling fighting game, Nidhogg, is set to launch January 13 for PC via Steam, the developer has announced.
The announcement was made with a new trailer (below) which showcases several different environments that will feature in the game, such as a castle, clouds, the wilds, and mines. For those who are unaware, the objective of Nidhogg is to reach the end of a given stage by running in the direction that you spawn. An opponent will spawn in front of you facing the opposite direct, and you must kill this opposing player continually to advance and reach the end of the stage.
Nidhogg has already won several awards, including the the Grand Prize and Excellence in Design awards at the Independent Games Festival 2011.
