Soulcalibur

Darkness needs light, and with the early confirmation of Nightmare for Soulcalibur VI, it is no surprise that the reveal of Siegfried would follow.

Siegfried is one of the series’ most classic characters, with appearances in all previous Soulcalibur games, as well as the original Soul Edge. Similar to Nightmare’s Soul Edge (the sword, that is), the sword that Siegfried wields is massive. Called Zweihänder, this claymore deals out serious damage at an extensive range, and fans can experience the weapon’s Soul Charge special attack at the end of the trailer below.

Along with the reveal trailer, publisher Bandi Namco released a short plot synopsis of the fighter’s story:

After losing to Kilik and his comrades in the form of Nightmare, Siegfried awoke in an unfamiliar place and he is now unable to free himself from the unforgiving memories of his time spent as the cursed sword’s puppet. The memory of having killed his own father is haunting him. His true nightmare has only just begun…Full of regrets, he is looking for redemption and he desperately wants to free himself from the cursed sword’s grasp!

The reveal of Siegfried makes for 10 total characters confirmed for Soulcalibur VI‘s roster, so we presumably have many more to go. One of the faces currently in the game’s roster will be familiar to gamers, but not from a previous Soulcalibur game. The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia will take to the arena in Soulcalibur VI in a crossover so significant, the character even made the game’s box art.

Soulcalibur VI does not yet have an exact release date for its 2018 release, but with E3 not far off, we will likely learn of it soon. Whenever it does launch, it will come to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
