THE BUZZ: Earlier today it was confirmed that a new Super Mario Bros. game of some sort would be shown for the Wii U at this year’s E3. Now, it seems another beloved Nintendo franchise will also be making the trip to Los Angeles.

EGM’s TAKE: This time, it was Kotaku who got word from Nintendo, as a rep for the company confirmed that a new Pikmin title would be shown off at the event this summer:

“In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Pikmin game will be shown at the E3 Expo in June. He believes that anyone who has played Pikmin games in the past will enjoy playing.”

Putting a game like Pikmin onto the Wii U is where the system’s unique controller starts to get very interesting—the gameplay benefits that such a game could receive from a player having a touchscreen to interact with are instantly apparent.
