Nintendo Announces Dynasty Warriors and Zelda Collaboration ‘Hyrule Warriors’

Posted on December 18, 2013 AT 10:38am

Nintendo and Tecmo Koei are collaborating on a Dynasty Warriors–style Legend of Zelda spinoff tentatively titled Hyrule Warriors, global president Satoru Iwata announced today.

Revealed during this morning’s Nintendo Direct presentation, Hyrule Warriors (name not final, the video embedded below points out) combines the hack-n-slash gameplay of Dynasty Warriors with a Hyrulian aesthetic. Iwata was quick to point out that this title is not the next installment of the Zelda series proper, but rather a spinoff title.

Classic Zelda gear and powers seen in the video includes Link’s whirlwind slash, bombs, and fire wand.

Hyrule Warriors is coming to Wii U sometime 2014.
