A few weeks ago, Nintendo revealed that it was rereleasing the amiibo of every character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Now, the company has promised to create more entirely new amiibo, corresponding to the character reveals in the latest Nintendo Direct.
That Direct showed off five new characters who will appear in Ultimate. First up is King K. Rool, the baddie from the Donkey Kong Country games. Simon Belmont of Castlevania fame is the second entirely new fighter to take to the stage, along with his echo figher, Richter Belmont Samus also gets a new echo character in the form of Dark Samus, and Chrom from Fire Emblem: Awakening appears as an echo fighter for Roy. The Nintendo of Europe Twitter account confirmed that all of these fighters will get amiibo figurines “in the future.”

While Nintendo of Europe didn’t give a release date, we know that Ridley, Wolf, and the re-imagined Inkling Girl—three other new amiibo that Nintendo revealed for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate last month—will be released on December 7th. It’s possible that these five additional amiibo could launch at the same time. If not then, a second wave of reprinted amiibo is scheduled to arrive in January 2019, and the new figures could be among that batch.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate itself launches on December 7th, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
