THE BUZZ: For game-starved Wii owners, one of the most asked for games has been Xenoblade, a highly-acclaimed Japanese RPG that was the main target in the grassroots “Operation Rainfall” initiative.
Today, Nintendo officially announced the game’s release for North America. Coming on April 3rd, 2012, Xenoblade Chronicles will be a GameStop exclusive for retail, but will also be sold directly by Nintendo via their online shop on nintendo.com.
EGM’s TAKE: When Xenoblade Chronicles was announced as getting an English-language release for Europe back in August, the reaction was mixed: some thought it might be a sign that America would be getting it as well, while others saw it as another sign of Nintendo of America’s perceived lack of interest for any games that weren’t guaranteed huge sales numbers.
While I think the game not coming until April of next year is a little crazy, I’m glad that Wii owners in this country will finally get the chance to purchase and enjoy Xenoblade in English—without having to mod their consoles to play the European release, that is.
