Nintendo Offering Free Games to New 3DS XL Owners
Posted on February 14, 2013 AT 02:37pm

If you’ve been considered picking up a 3DS XL at all, then sooner might be better than later—as Nintendo is prepared to offer you a free game for doing so.
Announced as part of this morning’s wave of news, Nintendo will be offering a free digital download of one of five 3DS titles for those who purchase both a 3DS XL, and a copy of one of two upcoming games: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, or Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon.
Here’s how it’ll work. First, you’ll need to have registered a new 3DS XL with Nintendo on or after today, February 14th. So, if you already own an XL but haven’t let Nintendo know, then you’ll be able to take advantage of the deal.
Then, you’ll need to buy one of those two games—both of which launch on March 24th—and also register them via Club Nintendo before April 30th. Do that, and you’ll get your choice of one of these games for free:
- Freakyforms Deluxe
- Art Academy 3DS
- Super Mario 3D Land
- Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
- Star Fox 64 3D
So, hey—not a bad way to get a 3DS XL, and kick off (or add to) your collection.
