Nintendo Offering Unity and ‘Nintendo Web Framework’ Wii U Dev Tools

Posted on March 29, 2013 AT 12:24pm

During GDC, Nintendo announced the “Nintendo Web Framework” and Unity game development suite for Wii U.

Developers can use the Nintendo Web Framework to build Wii U apps using HTML5, Javascript, and CSS that support both GamePad and Wiimote.

Unity is a cross-platform game engine being used for many upcoming game projects, including Wasteland 2, Torment: Tides of Numenera, and Shadowrun Online. According to Nintendo, Unity provides “fast and powerful 3D graphic functionality, animation, AI, scripts, and SFX, enabling expressive and fast game development.”
