Nintendo will eschew hosting an E3 press conference in favor of livestream broadcasts again this year while also hosting a Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament, the company announced.

The Super Smash Bros. Invitational will pit 16 Super Smash Bros. players against one another live in the Nokia Theatre L.A. during E3. In addition, Nintendo will set up kiosks supplied with playable Super Smash Bros. demos at Best Buys across the country.

Beyond all the Super Smash Bros. love, the Mario maker will also host a livestream titled the Nintendo Digital Event at 9 a.m. PT on Tuesday, June 10 to detail upcoming Nintendo products.

As for on-the-floor presence, Nintendo’s product development arm, the Treehouse, will be on the E3 show floor demoing various games, which will also be livestreamed all throughout E3.

“We demonstrated last year that we are never afraid to reinvent a proven tactic or to break completely new ground if we believe it will provide the best experience for our fans, followers and partners,” Nintendo of America president and COO Reggie Fils-Aime said in a press statement. “So, whether you’re attending E3 in person or joining online, there’s an amazing lineup of games, experiences and events coming your way.”

Nintendo promised more details, including dates, times, and locations pertaining tot he Best Buy Smash Bros. demos, “will be revealed shortly.”

E3 2014 begins with the usual press conferences on Monday, June 9, and then kicks off in full Tuesday, June 10 and lasts through June 12.
