Nintendo Pro-Tip: Update Wii U before Wrapping

By

Friday, Nintendo tweeted some advice that anyone gifting a Wii U should seriously consider: update, homeslice. Update first, wrap second.

“Giving #WiiU as a gift? Pro-tip: Perform system updates before wrapping so it’s good to go as soon as it’s opened!”

When Wii U launched a month ago, early adopters were greeted to an hour-long update session. There are now a handful of updates awaiting new owners—enough to severely dash excitement after tearing wrapping to shreds only to spend the next hour or so waiting. So as unfortunate as it may be that it’s even necessary, gift givers really ought to spare loved ones this discourtesy and update ahead of time.
