The next big gaming event is GamesCom 2011, taking place in Cologne, Germany from August 17th until the 21st.

According to Conceivably Tech, Nintendo has decided to completely pull the Wii U from the event, canceling all press events for their next console and removing any showing they were going to do for the system.

The reason? “Security concerns,” according to Nintendo, though what that would even mean isn’t sure.

Some are wondering if, after the big shake-up with the 3DS recently, Nintendo might have decided to pull back on showing the Wii U until they can put together a better showing for it. Also, Nintendo may have decided that their time for now would be better spent giving more attention to the 3DS and building it a better reputation.

LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD! – Do you think Nintendo needs to spend more time working on the 3DS, and save talk of the Wii U for later?
