Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is now out on the Nintendo Switch, but developer Monolith Soft may have its eyes set on a different game in the series: Xenoblade Chronicles X.
Xenoblade Chronicles X originally released on the Wii U, a platform that has an undoubtedly smaller user base than the Switch. As such, many would-be Xenoblade fans may have skipped over the game. And, in a recent interview with 4Gamer (via SiliconEra), Monolith Soft president Tesuya Takahashi expressed interest in moving the game onto Nintendo’s latest platform.
“Personally speaking, there are times I feel like playing Xenoblade Chronicles X and think about how nice it would be to play it on the Nintendo Switch,” Takahashi said. “Of course that will depend on demand and such, but I will think about it while discussing future plans with Nintendo.”
It wouldn’t be an entirely unprecedented move. The first Xenoblade Chronicles, which released on the original Wii, was later rereleased on the New 3DS. Monolith Soft and Nintendo will likely be watching the performance of the newly launched Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in order to help make the decision final.
