Nintendo’s Wii U is currently available for pre-order from a vast number of retailers, but for some mysterious reason, Amazon isn’t one of them. That’s the official word from the online retailer, which really doesn’t say much.

In an e-mail sent out to customers today, the public found out that they wouldn’t be able to purchase Nintendo’s highly-anticipated console from this Amazon letter:

“Dear http://Amazon.com Customer,

Thank for you signing up to be notified when the Wii U is available.
Unfortunately the Wii U console is not available at http://Amazon.com at this time but please check back in the future, as availability may change.

We do have the latest Wii U games and accessories available now so check them out.

Thank you for shopping with Amazon Video Games.”

Nintendo and Amazon haven’t made any public announcements, but Amazon is still selling Nintendo Wii U games.

That’s going to be a pain for people used to getting their new consoles dropped off for home delivery, since the potential elimination of Amazon from the launch period means that many more people will be lining up outside of Best Buys, Toys’R Us stores, and their local GameStops. Hopefully, that won’t be the final word on this case.
