Hello Games has unveiled No Man’s Sky: Beyond, the next major update for the space exploration game.
“Earlier this year, whilst working on our roadmap of three future updates, we decided we wanted to interweave their features, and had a vision for something much more impactful,” the developer explained. “We are excited to announce that Beyond will contain those three major updates rolled into one larger free release.”
The first component of the Beyond update is No Man’s Sky Online, which is described as “a radical new social and multiplayer experience which empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together.”
The developer notes that this isn’t a traditional MMO, despite having “many recognizable online elements,” as it will not require a subscription, will not contain microtransactions, and will be free for all players.
More information about the upcoming update will be shared “in the coming weeks.”
No Man’s Sky: Beyond is scheduled to release in summer 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
