The Sims

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Sims fans, but Maxis has confirmed that neither swimming pools or toddlers will be available as part of The Sims 4 base game when it launches later this year.

“You can see we’ve made some key decisions to focus on new aspects of the game – things like our all new Sims, vibrant neighborhoods, and powerful creative tools – just a to name a few,” said producer Ryan Vaughan.

“And while we recognize that some of you will be disappointed that pools and toddlers won’t be available when The Sims 4 Base Game launches in September, you should know that we’re building an incredibly strong foundation that is capable of fulfilling every one of your desires in the years to come. The future of The Sims 4 is bright!”

Under the new aging system, Sims will go from baby to child, to teenager, and then onto young adults, adults, and old age.

Now the fact that Vaughan says that swimming pools wont be available with the base game tends to suggest that Sims may be able to dust off their swimwear and go for a dip in a future expansion.

The Sims 4 will be available on PC and mac from September 4.
