Nomura on Kingdom Hearts 3 and a Possible HD Collection

Posted on May 8, 2012 AT 07:49am

Square-Enix designer Tetsuya Nomura has suggested that Kingdom Hearts 3 will launch on home consoles, and has also shared his thoughts on a HD collection for the original two games.

During an interview with GameInformer, he was asked about his thoughts on the PlayStation Vita and if Kingdom Hearts would make an appearance on the handheld.

“We have been invited to make games on different new platforms, and every time we have created titles making sure that they are highly compatible with the platform,” he said. ”The PS Vita is definitely a powerful device that is very interesting, but because of its high power, there isn’t much of a difference with a console.”

“So even if we were to make a game, we would have to be very careful about how to create it for that device. I also feel that it’s about time that Kingdom Hearts should go back to being on a console.”

Nomura also mentioned his interest in putting together the much requested Kingdom Hearts HD collection, featuring the first two PS2 games.

“If it is possible, I would like to do something about the series being spread over so many different consoles, too. I am thinking a lot about the future.”

Every Kingdom Hearts fan knows that the series must move back to home consoles to once again become a success, the many spin-offs have enjoyed reasonable success but nothing even close to the original two games. Everybody is just biding their time for the day the announcement comes. Sadly it’s still a long time away as the illusive Final Fantasy Versus XIII needs to make an appearance before Nomura can start work on the third Kingdom Hearts. Developers sure like to play with our hearts.

Hands up, who wants to see a Kingdom Hearts HD collection?
