‘Notch’ Refuses to Help Port Minecraft to Windows 8

Mojang co-founder Markus ‘Notch’ Persson has refused to help Microsoft certify Minecraft for its upcoming Windows 8 platform, claiming that the company is trying to ruin the PC.
Persson told his followers, “Got an email from Microsoft wanting to help ‘certify’ Minecraft for Windows 8. I told them to stop trying to ruin the PC as an open platform.” He added that he would “rather have Minecraft not run on Windows 8 at all than to play along. Maybe we can convince a few people not to switch to Windows 8 that way.”
Notch isn’t the only one who is against Windows 8 as a platform, Valve co-founder Gabe Newell has also voiced concerns over it, claiming that it would be a catastrophe for people working in the PC space.
