Ride The Dark Pony
At New York Comic Con this week, Dark Horse Comics announced a series of comics and art books of interest to gamers.
In honor of the Mass Effect Trilogy collection being released on November 7, Dark Horse will issue a one-shot through their digital store called Mass Effect: Blasto. The book centers on the first hanar to be named a Spectre, who, in the announcement is described as having, “a lover in every port and a gun in every tentacle” who “doesn’t have time for your solid-waste excretions.”
If you don’t get Blasto in November, though, don’t worry. On May 22, Dark Horse will release Mass Effect Library Edition, which will compile all of the stories based on BioWare’s epic sci-fi adventure into a single hardcover. Besides the books Redemption, Evolution, Invasion, and Homeworlds, the collection will also include short stories that appeared in MySpace Dark Hose Presents, on USA Today’s website, and in Dark Horse’s digital store, as well as a sketchbook of previously unseen art.
For fans of BioWare’s other great adventure, April 3 sees the release of Dragon Age: The World Of Thedas Volume 1, an art book of concept art and other images related to the adventure series.
Dark Horse will also kick off a new Dragon Age comic on March 27. Written by David Gaider, the lead writer on the games, Dragon Age: Until We Sleep has King Alistair, Isabela, and Varric, along with the Quinari, trying to find the evil mage responsible for the former’s father going missing.
Last but not least, Naughty Dog’s upcoming game The Last Of Us is getting horsed as well. Written by the game’s lead writer, Neil Druckmann, and drawn by artist Faith Erin Hocks (The Adventures Of Superhero Girl), The Last Of Us: American Dreams is a four-issue comic series that will chronicle the pre-game life of Ellie, the game’s female protagonist. The first issue will be released in the spring.
In addition, Dark Horse will also release The Art Of The Last Of Us around the time of the game.
