President Barack Obama has been exercising an aggressive election campaign that’s seen advertisement in quite a few unlikely places. One of those will be Madden NFL 13 and other EA titles, oddly enough.

However, perhaps it’s not so strange.

Various video game sites and publications have been accepting advertisement revenue from the groups like “Obama for America” for a while now.

But according to Game Politics, the focus is going to be even narrower from here on out, targeting specific games and companies. One of those will be EA, which hosts some of the most widely-spread sports titles in the country:

Advertisements will run in games across multiple platforms including Madden NFL 13 on console systems, casual online games on Pogo.com, and several of EA’s popular mobile games including BATTLESHIP, Tetris and SCRABBLE. The ads, according to EA, will be targeted at users in battleground states such as Ohio, Nevada, Colorado, Iowa, New Hampshire and Virginia.

We asked an EA representative if they were offering similar opportunities for other presidential candidates such as Republican candidate Mitt Romney and Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson. The representative assured us that the opportunity is available to those campaigns that want it and are willing to pay for it.

States like Ohio and Virginia are critical “swing states” that both Barack Obama and Mitt Romney will be battling over in the run-up to the voting in November. As such, those areas will be hit by the heaviest ad placement.

Of course, if you’re online, then the swell of election traffic will affect you regardless. But although EA is accepting money to place ads in Madden, don’t expect the same for Battlefield or Medal of Honor: Warfighter.
