One Mans Dream To Recreate World of Warcraft in Minecraft

Posted on February 8, 2012 AT 06:52am

THE BUZZ: One dedicated Minecraft player has re-created the land of Kalimdor from World of Warcraft, with the aim of making the whole world of Azeroth.

“Rumsey” has said that the creation of the world is ”largely automated by custom software,” but that doesn’t mean it was easy. The major issue that he has faced so far is Minecraft’s default height of 128 blocks:

“Many zones exceed 128 blocks, so I’ve needed to use mods to increase the height limit. Once I’m satisfied with the quality of the maps, they will most likely be hosted online.”

Once he is satisfied with Kalimdor, ”the same process will be used to re-create the entire game, including all continents and dungeons.”

EGM’s TAKE: This is either serious dedication or pure madness. It has to be the biggest project we have ever seen in Minecraft. Based on what’s been shown so far it’s looking pretty much bang on and it will be amazing to see it in completed form and actually get to explore. We wish this young crafter good luck on his journey, he’s going to need it.

What do you think of the project? Let us know in the comments below.
