The Last of Us Part II will include one of the “most complicated and heart-wrenching [scenes]” the game’s director has ever worked on.
Game director Neil Druckmann has been at Naughty Dog since 2004, working on the Uncharted series, as well as the first The Last of Us. These games– particularly The Last of Us– held some brutally emotional moments, and fans should apparently expect another in the upcoming The Last of Us Part II.
In a Twitter post from right before the holidays, Druckmann teased such a scene with an image showing Ashley Johnson (Ellie) serenading her in-game girlfriend Shannon Woodward (Dina) with a guitar.
Killer shoot this week, including one of the most complicated and heart wrenching scene we’ve ever worked on. Time for some vacation! Happy holidays… more to come next year. 📷: @Grosstastic pic.twitter.com/iQQ4WvIrqe

The Last of Us Part II was announced over two years ago, and fans still don’t even have a general window for the game’s PlayStation 4–exclusive launch. This has forced us to rely on vague hints and leaks, such as a The Last of Us music video from last year that listed the game’s launch year as 2019.
