OnLive Founder Says PS3 And Xbox 360 Are Old, Don’t Have Enough Power

Speaking to PCR, Steve Perlman – CEO, founder, and president of streaming game service OnLive – had some interesting comments to make about the current batch of consoles.
“In time as the years go by, were looking at 2005 architecture for Xbox 360 and PS3,” Perlman said. “Theyre getting a bit long in the tooth. And I think what you’ll see is people saying ‘you know I really want to play this very high performance game that just can’t be played on a console. And I guess at that point we become sort of competitive, but if it was us or someone else there’s a natural movement from old game platforms to the next generation.”
So, Perlman’s argument is clear: the current consoles are too told to really handle the today’s high-end games, so a service like OnLive would be perfect for them, as the power of the hardware in people’s homes isn’t what is important.
What about PC users, who can have the latest and greatest hardware? Perlman sees a need for OnLive with them as well.
“We’ll be working with PC gamers, those who are really into it and want to upgrade. They don’t see it as a burden, they see it as a hobby. And we’re all for that.”
