A U.S. District Court Jury in the Northern District of California has ruled in favor of original Madden NFL designer Robin Antonick in his case against Electronic Arts over six years of unpaid royalties.
Antonick was awarded $11 million. According to the jury, the Madden NFL Football games released between 1990 and 1996 “were virtually identical to the original version of Madden NFL Football.
The case will now proceed to its next phase of trial in order to determine whether EA must pay Antonick for Madden games released between 1997 and now. Antonick and his attorneys at Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP will also seek to appeal previous rulings regarding the exclusion of Super Nintendo versions of Madden.
