Max Payne

The title that introduced bullet-time to games is coming to the PlayStation 4, as the original Max Payne is the next game added to the PS2-on-PS4 emulation program.

VideoGamer.com picked up the announcement from the European PS Blog, which means we’re not certain when North America will receive the game, first released by Remedy Entertainment in 2001 for PC, Xbox, and PS2.

For those lucky folks across the Atlantic, you’ll be able to revisit the origins of the hard-boiled detective, back before Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive purchased the rights and published two sequels. As with current PS2 classics currently playable on the PS4, expect 1080p resolution and trophy support.

Max Payne is scheduled to arrive on the PS Store through the PS2-on-PS4 program on April 22nd in Europe, and will coincidentally be the 22nd game brought to Sony’s current-gen console through emulation, which so far includes Grand Theft Auto III, Twisted Metal Black, and Rogue Galaxy, among others.
