Another Overwatch datamine of the game’s recent 1.13 public test region update produced even more evidence of an inbound summer event.
Players have long expected a Summer Games 2017 event to hit Overwatch sometime this season, and mentions of the event in previous update datamines have all but confirmed its return. New datamines of the same update have now resulted it yet another hint about the summer event, this time in the form of a logo.
According to Reddit user ZingBallyhoo, who purportedly posted the images, data involving logos and images are normally encrypted, but this image was only encrypted using an existing key that was already known. It is perhaps this confusion that caused the logo to surface later than the earlier details that first teased the event and the potential reveal of Doomfist.
A second image was also uncovered through the new datamine, showing off the spray rewarded to those that reach the top 500 in the sixth season of the game’s Competitive Play.
Normally, one would expect it to be a while before yet another event launches, but considering how close the recent Anniversary event was to the previous Uprising event, Blizzard seems to be playing fast and loose with its event schedule. The update in which these images were discovered features some adjustments expected to hit the full game soon, which could mean the new event and character aren’t far off.
