Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan has revealed that the game’s next hero is “very far along in development,” with the team currently working on art and aggressive play-testing.
“Yes! I absolutely know who the next hero is going to be,” Kaplan told IBTimes. “The next hero is very far along in development, so we’re at the point where we’re doing art for that hero, we’re doing a lot of aggressive play-testing.
“We know what that hero, what the abilities are and how they interact, so we’re at that point,” he added. “The heroes past that hero are more in prototype, exploration phase but the next hero we’re pretty set on.”
The last hero, Orisa, hit the live servers last month on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, following several weeks of testing on the PTR.
Earlier this week, Blizzard released a teaser trailer for a new in-game event that will take place on April 11th. The event is connected to the “King’s Row Uprising” that happened seven years ago, and is “one of the best things” to come out for the game since launch, according to lead character artist Renaud Galand.
