Doomfist has been in the Overwatch public test region for almost two weeks now, but the rest of us players won’t see him in the full game until the end of the month.
Doomfist will go live for all console and non-PTR PC players on July 27th, a full three weeks after showing up on the PTR. It was previously difficult to estimate when players would see Doomfist compared to past DLC heroes, considering Ana and Sombra launched about a week after their reveals, while Orisa took almost three weeks to come out.
Doomfist’s release date was announced via a new hero preview in which various Blizzard developers discuss how Doomfist came to be.
At least Doomfist isn’t simply sitting on the PTR twiddling his thumbs. The community’s rampant use of the character has already enabled developers to recognize some imbalances in the character’s Rocket Punch ability, which have been addressed with changes on the PTR that are expected to carry over to the full release. Some other character adjustments also being testing in preparation for July’s update include buffs to McCree’s Flashbang ability and Zarya’s Graviton Surge ultimate.
