Overwatch‘s first event, Summer Games, will return on August 8th, Blizzard has announced.
In a developer update video, game director Jeff Kaplan confirmed that items from last year’s event will once again be available and that all Summer Games items can be unlocked with credits. As an added bonus, last year’s items will be discounted to the price of normal loot box items.
In terms of new items, Junkrat and Mercy will be getting new legendary skins and Kaplan teased that Widowmaker and McCree fans will be very happy with what’s on offer.
Lúcioball, Overwatch’s take on soccer, will also be making a return for this year’s Summer Games with a brand new stadium set in Sydney, Australia. A number of changes have been made to the mode this time round, including the removal of Lucio’s knock back ability and a change to his ultimate to remove the ball pull in.
Finally, the event introduces Copa Lúcioball, a competitive version of Lúcioball that will run while the Summer Games event is live. Players who complete 10 placement matches will get a special spray, while players who reach the top 500 will get a second spray.
Overwatch is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
