Overwatch‘s new Uprising event is upon us, and a handful of our heroes must fight to save what’s left of King’s Row.
The event follows the story of a younger Overwatch unit flown in to fight against an Omnic uprising. The prologue for the event was covered in the recent Overwatch: Uprising digital comic, but a new animated story trailer offers a more comprehensive breakdown of the fight our heroes have on their hands and what lead to the decay of peace.
There is plenty to enjoy from a gameplay perspective during the event, the centerpiece of which is the new Uprising mode. Four players will take on the rolls of Reinhardt, Torbjorn, Mercy, and Tracer as they push their way through the Omnic hordes to clear King’s Row of the threat. The French version of the mode’s trailer leaked yesterday, but now English-speakers get the information as well.
There are a total of 10 new skins available through the event, with eight Legendaries and two Epics across a wide range of characters. Three new highlight intros and three new emotes are also available, and every collectible can be checked out on the official Overwatch website.
The Uprising event may be a lot to take in at once, but luckily, our friendly neighborhood game director Jeff Kaplan has a new developer update to help us sort through it.
The Uprising event lasts from April 11th to May 1st. Hopefully there is a tease hidden somewhere in this massive event about the 25th hero coming to the game, who is far along in development, according to Blizzard.
