P.T.’s secret radio transmission has been translated

Hideo Kojima’s Silent Hills teaser P.T. has many hidden mysteries, and one of the latest mysteries to be solved points to the return of an old Silent Hill tradition.

Now for Swedish-language speakers this wasn’t much of a mystery, seeing as the radio broadcast is question is in Swedish, but for everyone else a translation is needed to discover the alien reference.

In past Silent Hill titles there have been unlockable endings that point to aliens being behind everything, and it appears that Kojima is continuing that tradition with Silent Hills. Around midway through the P.T. demo there is a radio broadcast playing in Swedish that suggests that everything happening in the teaser is the result of aliens being among us.

YouTube user “SirDaidv Gaming” helpfully translated the message for us all:

Close your eyes, let your ears listen to the radio, do you hear my voice? Can you hear the screams of your own soul? Let us choose: My voice, which tells the future, or your tormented struggles? Well? What do you choose? You can choose. Your life, your future!

Wise as you are, you may have already noticed. As the radio drama from 75 years ago was the truth. They are here on our earth. And they oversee and see us all. Don’t trust the news. Don’t trust the police. They are already controlled by them. So has it been for 75 years now. Only [our master?] can keep them (at bay). You have a right. A right to become one of us. So welcome to our world. Very soon the gates to a new dimension will open.

The 75-year-old radio drama mentioned above is presumably a reference to Orson Welles’ 1938 radio adaption of The War of the Worlds, which warned of an alien invasion in the form of fake news bulletins, and was believed by many to be true.

Hideo Kojima has previously stated that P.T. is just a teaser for Silent Hills and will not tie into the full game, so who knows if aliens will make it into the actual game.
