PAX 2012: New God Of War: Ascension Trailer Unveils The Furies
Posted on September 1, 2012 AT 12:15pm
Upcoming action title God of War: Ascension won’t stray far from the well with Kratos’ newest acquaintances, the Furies. Highlighted in a new trailer, the vengeful female deities will have a starring role.
It’s assumed that the Furies will be the main enemies in the prequel, with this information confirmed about the story:
- Ascension predates the God of War trilogy, when Kratos was still mortal.
- The Furies are pitted against Kratos when he denies his debt to Ares, the first God of War.
- Kratos’ quest to kill the Furies takes place six months after his family dies.
Originally, this game was supposed to feature goddess Artemis (the daughter of Zeus) as a playable character, but the plans never fully came together in development.
According to The Bitbag, Ascension will also be “close to 14 hours” in length.
God of War: Ascension is slated for a March 2013 release, and will have multiplayer that supports up to eight users. It’s unknown whether the PS3-exclusive will feature “Cross Play” compatibility with the PlayStation Vita.
