[PAX East] Borderlands 2 – Mechromancer Class Revealed
Posted on April 10, 2012 AT 07:14am
THE BUZZ: Gearbox revealed a new class for Borderlands 2 at PAX East this weekend.
The developer revealed the Mechromancer class, at a panel attended by Game Informer, showing a female who is part human, part machine and has the ability to control a large robot known as D374-TP (Deathtrap). The class will be available to those who pre-order the game for free, and then released as paid DLC to everyone else post launch.
Gearbox also revealed a new character customization mechanic that allows players to unlock new clothes and gear that they can apply to their characters.
EGM’s TAKE: The ability to control a giant robot is enough to get us excited about this class. We’re also fans of how the character looks. Borderlands 2 needs something a little bit different to set it apart from the original, and the Mechromancer might be just the ticket. Some fans may complain about the class being offered as DLC, but Gearbox is simply rewarding players who put faith in them and pre-order their game as opposed to buying it later. If you want the class for free all you have to do is place a pre-order.
