[PAX East] Epic’s Cliff Bleszinski Says On-Disc DLC An ‘Unfortunate Reality’

THE BUZZ: On-disc DLC has become a hot topic in recent weeks—and Gears of War frontman Cliff Bleszinski has weighed in on the subject.
EGM’s TAKE: In an interview with Gamespot at PAX East, Bleszinski gave his opinion on the consumer backlash that’s been going around to the on-disc DLC that is a part of Capcom’s Street Fighter X Tekken.
“When you’re making a game, and you’re getting into a ship cycle, there’s often three or four months where the game is basically done. And you have an idle team that needs to be working on things. And often for compatibility issues, [on] day one, some of that content does need to be on-disc. It’s an ugly truth of the gaming industry. I’m not the biggest fan of having to do it, but it is one of the unfortunate realities.”
In addition to that, Bleszinski told Gamespot that one of the solutions to this argument is digital distribution for all games.
