A free update for Payday 2 has added the Infamy system to the game, which allows criminals to continue ranking up after they reach max level.

Similar to how Prestige works in Call of Duty, Infamy allows players to trade in their maximum rank for exclusive perks. To claim Infamy players must be at level 100 and have $200,000,000 in their in-game bank account. After selecting to become infamous players will be returned to level 1 and have all of their skill points and money removed. However, earned guns, mods, masks, patterns, and materials will still be available—although some may be level locked. Players also get a card next to their name, depending on their Infamy level.

There are 14 levels of Infamy split into four tiers. Each time you choose to become infamous you get a single point to spend, and as long as you have the tier unlocked you can buy any perk from it. At the moment only tier one is available to unlock, with the other tiers set to be made available at a later date.
