According to a report in New Scientist, modern PC graphics cards are 24 times more powerful than the one used in the Xbox 360.
Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 680 is reportedly the card that has been powering the Unreal Engine 4 during Epic’s recent demonstrations. According to Nvidia engineer Simon Green, the card’s successor–the GTX 690–is twice as powerful.
Graphics technology has been moving forward at an alarming rate over the last few years so it’s no surprise that the Xbox 360 has fallen so far behind. The real issue will come with the next-generation of consoles, Microsoft and Sony need to create hardware on par with a top-end PC, if not then the battle may be lost before it even begins.
