Popular YouTuber PewDiePie was recently suspended from Twitter apparently due to remarks insinuating an involvement with the terrorist group ISIS.

The tweet that landed PewDiePie– aka Felix Kjellberg– in hot water seems to be missing, but following his quick reinstatement to Twitter, the YouTuber posted a tweet vaguely explaining what had happened.

While both YouTubers’ accounts have been reinstated, they no longer hold Twitter’s verified status that often helps prevent copycats from using Twitter handles that could be confused with well-known individuals. PewDiePie claims the unverified status is his choice to avoid the headaches that being verified has caused him.

The origins of this strange circumstance are likely due, in part, to a recent fake news story about PewDiePie actually being recruited by the terror group.

“I’m fairly certain social media is making us all retarded. Yesterday, Twitter went full retard,” was PewDiePie’s eloquent response to the general situation. For those still concerned about him, however, he recently posted that he is “TOTALLY fine guys.”

To hear it straight from the YouTuber’s mouth, PewDiePie posted a video detailing the bizarre sequence of events.

Nick didn’t start gaming until mid-2006. Once his parents finally allowed a console into the house, it was all uphill from there. Starting out with a PS2, he grew an affinity for Sony consoles and moved on to the PS3, and now the PS4. He keeps his gaming palette wide, but, gun to his head, he’d have to say shooters are his genre of choice. Find him on Twitter @idole808

PewDiePie got booted off Twitter for… joining ISIS?

Is this popular YouTuber part of ISIS?! No… probably not.
