Xbox boss Phil Spencer wants to add original Xbox games to the Xbox One’s backward compatibility program.
When asked by a fan whether the backward compatibility program would ever expand to include titles from Microsoft’s original console, Spencer responded on Twitter that, though it’s not something Microsoft is currently working on, he “hadn’t ruled it out” and would “like to find the time to do it.”
@James1o1o We haven’t ruled it out but we aren’t working on it right now. I’d like to find the time to do it.

Microsoft’s been updating the backward compatibility program regularly over the last few months, adding in a new batch of games every week. Expanding to the original Xbox could mean that players would get great games like the original Halo, Fable, and Morrowind added to their selections. Presumably, such games could then appear as Games with Gold titles as well.
Let’s all hope Phil Spencer finds that time, because the Xbox library would make for an excellent addition to the Xbox One.
