Pikmin and Pikmin 2 director Masamichi Abe is working on a new IP for Nintendo, according to a tweet from Tekken project leader Katsuhiro Harada.
“He [Masamichi Abe] is in Nintendo Kyoto now,” Harada wrote in response to a fan question inquiring about Abe. “Working on some Nintendo original title.”
After wrapping up Pikmin 2, Abe relocated to Seattle, Washington, and oversaw the development of 2006’s Metroid Prime: Hunters and 2009’s Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again. Both DS titles were developed by Nintendo Software Technology, a studio located in Nintendo of America’s Redmond, Washington headquarters.
