Pikmin’s Captain Olimar Returning in Super Smash. Bros for Wii U, 3DS

Posted on July 12, 2013 AT 10:27am

Pikmin‘s Captain Olimar will be returning as a playable combatant in Super Smash Bros., Nintendo announced on the game’s official website.

Olimar and Pikmin companions were added to the Smash Bros. roster in 2008′s Brawl for Wii. The Captain marks the thirteenth known fighter appearing in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and for 3DS, joining Mario, Bowser, Link, Fox, Kirby, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, Samus, Pit, Animal Crossing’s Villager, Mega Man, and the Wii Fit Trainer.

During E3 2013, director Masahiro Sakurai mentioned how the character selection process for a new Smash Bros. game is extremely stressful—for every character he includes, another characters risks being excluded.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and for 3DS launch sometime 2014.
