THE BUZZ: Stan Lee has announced that he will be a playable character in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man game from Activision and Beenox.

The Spider-Man co-creator confirmed the news in an interview with Addict to Fiction during the recent London Super Comic Convention.

No more details were revealed.

EGM’s TAKE: Those not indoctrinated in comic book culture won’t understand or appreciate the ability to play as the near 90 year-old Lee. Lee has long made cameo appearances in movies based on the characters he created, and there was even a series of comics where his famous creations got a chance to meet him, but this is the first time fans will be able to play him in a game. Those of use who grew up putting issues of Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk and the Uncanny X-Men into little plastic bags are beyond thrilled. For some of us this will be the “Best. Game. Ever.” Even if it sucks. And it’s about time.
