PETA is at it again, creating another parody game with the intent of trying to send a message. This time, it’s Pokemon Black & Blue, detailing the cruelty suffered by Pokemon at our hands.
I’m a huge supporter of animal rights, as well as groups that attempt to help or rescue animals. However, I’m not really a PETA fan—I don’t agree with some of their tactics, and there’s been more than a handful of reports of things that the group supposedly does that go directly against their stated goals.
PETA has a history of making these parody games in order to make certain points, and to be fair, sometimes they’re good points that are being made. With Pokemon Black & Blue, however, I don’t think their efforts hit the mark. Even if the games have dealt with the idea, there’s a legitimate issue that could be made about how the Pokemon games encourage people to capture Pokemon, and then use them to battle one another. Had this game stuck to dealing with just that, it could have made a legitimate point.
Instead—as per usual—PETA goes overboard, and also tosses in the experimentation angle as well. Because of that, it’s had to take serious the point they’re trying to make.
Anyhow, here’s the game! If you’re curious, try it out.
