The PC behemoth PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds had its Xbox One release revealed at E3 2017, but only recently did fans learn that this release almost certainly includes a physical version in addition to a digital one.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds creator Brendan Greene recently revealed to IGN that a physical release of the game on Xbox One is definitely something he anticipates.
“Yes, I would say so,” Greene responded to a question about Battlegrounds getting released as a boxed copy. “I mean, this is what I want. With Xbox [One] you get the box in stores. It’s gonna be cool walking into a retailer and seeing my game [in] the store. It’s not something I would imagine happening four years ago.”
There is always a chance Greene is getting ahead of himself with this somewhat unofficial announcement, but whatever format we find it in, Battlegrounds is expected to hit Xbox One’s Game Preview before the end of the year.
PlayStation 4 fans eagerly awaiting their release of Battlegrounds may have to wait a bit longer than expected, as Microsoft is attempting to extend the game’s console exclusivity on Xbox One. The game may not hit the PlayStation 4 until mid-2018 or longer, but it is at least good to know PlayStation players are getting it at some point.
