PUBG Corp. has released a new update for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on the game’s test server that introduces the weapon mastery system.
“Weapon Mastery is a progression system that allows players to earn free rewards as they level up their gunplay skills,” the developer explains. “As part of Weapon Mastery we are also debuting Medals for players who perform awesome feats during their matches.”
As part of this new system, players will be able to earn XP and level up weapons as they use them. The maximum level for a weapon is 100 and players can earn charms, medals, and tier emblems while leveling. Charms are new accessories that can be equipped to weapons and are unlocked every five weapon levels. Charms cannot be traded, sold, or exchanged for BP.
In addition, this update includes the second balance pass for Erangel’s loot and decreases the total number of items that spawn on the island, increases the spawn rate of assault rifles, DMRs, and sniper rifles, and increases the spawn rate of healing items.
Other changes include adjustments to the blue zone on Erangel, sniper rifle damage reductions, sound improvements, and a number of bug fixes.
