PlayStation 3 Firmware 4.10 Details Released
Posted on February 7, 2012 AT 06:24pm
THE BUZZ: No doubt as part of the Destination PlayStation event going on, details have come out about the latest PlayStation 3 firmware update.
EGM’s TAKE: This information was posted on the German PlayStation Blog, which says that the update is hitting “today” (as of February 8th local German time)—depending on the timing of things for us in North America, that could mean anytime within the next day or two.
Here’s what the blog post lists as updates:
- An improved internet browser, which improves site rendering and which will now load and run websites (including “interactive” sites) that previously weren’t compatible
- You can now have your PS3 automatically set time and date via the internet (versus having to manually tell it to internet sync)
- PSN accounts will be renamed Sony Entertainment Network accounts
Now a huge list of new features or updates, but very curious to see how the new web browser turns out. A new browser has been rumored for a long time now, and if it’s a solid update, it could hopefully mean some great things—such as streaming content sites finally being properly usable on the PS3 where they weren’t before.
