Following the release of PlayStation 4 firmware 1.60 earlier this week, Sony has deployed a new firmware update for PlayStation 3, taking the system up to version 4.55.

Version 4.55 is a mandatory update, meaning it must be downloaded before you can go online with your console, and only has one official patch note, which reads: “System stability during use of PlayStation®3 format software has been improved.”

PlayStation 4’s 1.60 update added support for the Pulse and Pulse Elite Edition wireless stereo headsets, which offer 7.1 virtual surround sound and crystal clear voice chat.

Sony also announced that its Gold Wireless Headset will release this month for $99, offering 7.1 virtual surround sound, custom sound profiles created by developers for PlayStation titles, and other features.
