SCE Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida has revealed that the PlayStation 4 was originally designed to only feature 4GB RAM. Yoshida told GameSpot that upgrading to 8GB RAM was a ”business decision,” which was taken after speaking with developers who strongly recommended the upgrade.

“And because we chose expensive memory…we really liked the performance, but it’s pricey, right? So going to 8GB was a bit of a business decision,” he said. “But we were able to make that decision because of a lot of the feedback from developers.”

Both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will feature 8GB RAM, however the PlayStation 4 sports GDDR5 RAM compared the the Xbox One’s GDDR3.

Yesterday, Yoshida announced during a post-TGS keynote roundtable that Gaikai will be bringing PlayStation 3 game streaming to PlayStation 4 across North America at some point in 2014.

PlayStation 4 is set to release November 15 in North America, November 29 in Europe, and February 22, 2014 in Japan.
