Sony’s European arm has confirmed on Twitter that PlayStation 4 update 1.70 will be going live on April 30.
“Heads-up: PS4 firmware update 1.70, inc. SHAREfactory and HDCP Off, goes live on 30th April. More soon,” the company wrote. The update will introduce a new video editor app called SHAREfactory, the ability to export files to USB, and an option to pre-download pre-ordered games.
“With SHAREfactory, you can now easily combine your captured video clips for editing, personalize them with special effects using filters, transitions, and themes, as well as share them with your friends and social networks,” Scott McCarthy, Director, Product Planning & Software Innovation, SCEA, wrote on the PlayStation Blog. ”SHAREfactory also allows you to personalize your videos by adding text, stickers, and a set of included audio tracks, as well as video commentary with picture-in-picture capability with PlayStation Camera. It also allows you to import your original music to add to the custom soundtrack for your video.”
The update also improves sharing by allowing users to export their saved screenshots and videos to a USB drive, record shorter gameplay videos, select who they share videos with, and offers the option to turn off HDCP.
Finally, the update adds the ability to pre-downloaded pre-ordered games “up to several days prior to release.”
