Sony and videogame charity Extra Life are teaming up to help raise money for children’s hospitals across the United States, the companies announced today in a post on the PlayStation Blog.
By registering as a PlayStation participant on Extra Life’s official website, players can set a fundraising goal and help raise donations individually or by joining an existing team or starting their own. To help motivate participants, Sony is offering several awards for their efforts. Just by registering, PS3 owners will receive an exclusive Extra Life theme. Raise $10, and you’ll get a digital voucher for a 30-day PlayStation Plus membership. Twenty-five dollars nets you a digital copy of When Vikings Attack, $50 a digital copy of Wipeout HD for PS3, and $75 a digital copy of LittleBigPlanet for PlayStation Vita.
Whoever raises the most in donations by 8 a.m. PT on November 3 will receive a retail copy of Knack, Killzone: Shadow Fall, one year of Music Unlimited, and one year of PlayStation Plus.
PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita owners are encouraged to find ways to motivate friends and family to support the cause by donating to Extra Life. One idea? Holding a 24-hour gaming marathon. The fundraising period begins today and ends November 2.
