After another successful holiday season, Sony has revealed impressive sales numbers for the PlayStation 4 and one of the platform’s leading exclusives.
According to the company, the PlayStation 4 sold over 5.6 million units during the 2018 holiday season, putting the console’s all-time worldwide sales over 91.6 million units. These figures are for sell-through as well, meaning it’s the number of consoles sold to consumers, not just shipped to retailers.
Accompanying the PlayStation 4 on this trip to providence is the recently released Marvel’s Spider-Man. Since its launch in September, Spider-Man sold over 9 million units before November 26th, accounting for both physical and digital sales, which helped it become the most successful superhero game ever. These sales were a significant chunk of the 50.7 million game sales the PS4 saw over this past holiday season.
PlayStation’s last brag-worthy statistic this month is its number of active PlayStation Network users, both with Plus and without. As of the end of November 2018, PlayStation recorded over 90 million users regularly signing on.
In other PlayStation news, the platform’s free games for the month of January were recently revealed.
