PlayStation Now beta gets six new games, prices remain unchanged

Posted on June 25, 2014 AT 06:35am

Sony has added six new games to the PlayStation Now ongoing beta, but is still sticking with the same highly controversial pricing model for now.

The six new titles are Ben 10 Omniverse 2 (which replaces Ben 10 Omniverse), Catherine, Darksiders, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, Resident Evil Code: Veronica X, and Saints Row 2.

A pricing structure was recently added to the service, which many users feel is far too high for what is offered. The prices currently range from $2.99 to $29.99, with games available to rent for four hours, seven days, 30 days, or 90 days.

Most four-hour rentals will set you back $2.99, but some can cost up to $4.99. For the more expensive titles, such as Deus Ex: Human Revolution Ultimate Edition, Final Fantasy XIII-2, and Saints Row: The Third, Sony is asking for $29.99 for a 90-day rental period. The problem most people are having with this is that you can purchase the game much cheaper from a retailer and keep it forever.

Sony has stated several times in the past that these prices are not final, so they may be reduced before the service’s official launch.
